DEDICATION:

This blog is dedicated to "The Children Left Behind." We will not rest until the safety of our children and those that are entrusted with their mental health care are held accountable for abusing the children's God given rights, those rights upheld by our constitution, and those that have been complicit in obfuscating the truth!

LIFETIME TV'S "TEEN TROUBLE" IS CANCELLED - APPARENTLY, JOSH SHIPP THE HOST, TAKES CREDIT

Josh Shipp

Lifetime TV of A&E networks affirmed the network cancelled "Teen Trouble" hosted by motivational speaker Josh Shipp.

As of this date, there was no announcement or press release by A&E's Lifetime TV network indicating the show was cancelled. A&E confirmed this.
The unscripted series was originally approved for only eight episodes.
http://www.mylifetime.com/shows/teen-trouble/episodes/season-1

"Teen Trouble" - After months of scrutiny, petitioning the network, articles upon negative articles, voices raised in horror by survivors of the TTI industry and children's rights advocates, this indeed was received as good news. There will be no more episodes of "Teen Trouble."

So how did survivors and child advocates find out "Teen Trouble" was cancelled?

Well, Mr. Shipp. it appears, would like survivors and advocates to believe it was his choice -  his "own personal decision to not do another season of  Teen Trouble."  How heroic of Mr. Shipp - how valiant. He "kept his word?"  Which "word" was that?

 https://www.facebook.com/groups/teentrouble.joshshipp/?fref=ts

"I have chosen to NOT film any more episodes of Teen Trouble."  Who has chosen?  He could film them, for sure, but the network would not be paying for them.

Mr. Shipp, the above statement, if made, is offensive to survivors and advocates.  One does not know if you are suggesting that the cognitive capabilities of advocates and survivors is marginal at best.

THE SCENARIO INFERRED BY MR. SHIPP'S STATEMENT

Okay, so you are not a noted star, but for an individual to cease production of further episodes, by his choice alone on a series, if true, is great "spin" for any network. This is news worthy! This selfless effort is certainly worth a logline from the network lauding you or the network for ones humanity above the almighty dollar. It's Disney! A rarity, but actors have walked away from other series.  Where is it? Where is the network news release? Oh, it's in an undisclosed private "email." However, the gist of it may be shared. Perhaps, the email was misinterpreted? Another "spin" coming?

NETWORK REASONING - THE BOTTOM LINE DICTATES

According to network executives, they pull the plug on a series, when the series does not perform well in the ratings(performance-very poor ratings), negative reviews (Mr. Shipp's self-proclaimed Harvard endorsement did not help, nor the marketing of himself as a "Teen Behavioral Expert et al"), or because of radical or controversial content (sending children to abusive facilities without educating oneself is right up there).

According to A&E's Lifetime, "Teen Trouble" did not perform up to their expectations, therefore the show was cancelled. Whether it is because of the aforementioned network reasoning or Mr. Shipp's take is any one's guess.  However, logic dictates that the reasoning for the cancellation of "Teen Trouble" leans more toward performance and controversy - although to networks, controversy is sometimes thought of as a positive as related to hype.

"Teen Trouble" did not make it because of the ratings? "Reality bites."

If one believes it was Mr.Shipp's decision to end "Teen Trouble," then one must conclude A&E's Lifetime network would have continued the series with menial ratings, thus sending children to abusive facilities, if Mr. Shipp stayed.  After all the controversy, this wouldn't shed a halo of light on the network - a Disney network. A&E would not be pleased, especially for making the network officials look like imbeciles as the ratings numbers were not there to sustain "Teen Trouble," nor was the advertising. Again, the network only agreed to eight episodes. The episodes were over and apparently, so was the series.

What we take issue with, is using pure of heart individuals, survivors of the TTI industry and children's rights advocates for one's own gain. What worth is that "gain," if it is the result of "a dog and pony show?"

We deal in the heartbreak of certain realities every day and, yes, it bites. It is not mired in any personal visions of grandeur or "spin." Our visions of grandeur are that of keeping all children safe.

Mr. Shipp, respect is earned and your ten minutes of advocacy is up.

And... that's our take.

US STATE DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS JUDGE ROTENBERG CENTER AND OTHER ABUSIVE FACILITIES FOR SPECIAL NEEDS TEENS

-- apparently our U.S. Department of State had no problem with advocating and advertising for abusive therapeutic boarding schools, "teen boarding schools," wilderness programs, and boot camps on their own website.

Is the State Department not aware they are still advocating the placement of Foreign Service youth in facilities where abuse and death of children have occurred?

What bright one thought this up to begin with... this is egregious.

"Boarding schools available to Foreign Service youth..."

To name a few: "FEATURED TOP BOARDING SCHOOLS" ACCORDING THE U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT:

SURVIVING STRAIGHT, INC. - THE DOCUMENTARY

SURVIVING STRAIGHT INC.  THE DOCUMENTARY
"Coming in 2013! Straight Incorporated was a “family treatment center” that was dedicated to preventing teenagers from using drugs and alcohol. The “treatment” modality used at Straight was an American version of the infamous re-education centers of the USSR and China. Instead of political dissidents being reformed in the communist mold, Straight took troubled teens and re-programmed them as “Straightlings.” New clients were forcibly indoctrinated with the “Tools of Personal Change” while simultaneously deprived of the most basic human rights." JOSH SHIPP OF "TEEN TROUBLE" ON HIS "RELATIONSHIP" WITH HARVARD

"JOSH SHIPP RELATIONSHIP WITH HARVARD UNIVERSITY" BY JOSH  SHIPP

Josh Shipp

Our take:

This was expertly crafted marketing, spin, as was Mr. Shipp's statement on February 4th 2013, which is an unprofessional, whining affront, and a lame attempt to garnish sympathy. The title above has nothing to do with the clip. There is no apology to the public, only a statement that "Harvard University, as a standard practice, does not endorse individual providers or organizations," which we are all too familiar with. Respect is earned through ones actions and conduct. The proof is in the pudding so to speak. What was offered up here was "mousse." We all make mistakes; this was no mistake. It was damage control. Like the "industry" we are fighting, to ensure children's rights, where facilities fraudulently market their wares and containment is their motto - you, Sir, are no different. A Carnival Barker garnishes more respect, for he/she does not allude to being anything other than a Carnival Barker.

BTW - How can an individual ask youth  to accept personal responsibility, when one conducts oneself without it.

JOSH SHIPP OF "TEEN TROUBLE" DISNEY'S LIFETIME SHOW - IN HIS OWN WORDS - HARVARD ENDORSEMENT

“Particularly with young people you have to earn the right to be heard,” Shipp said. “Just because I’m endorsed by Harvard doesn’t mean the youth care.” Josh Shipp/article April 2012.

Josh Shipp of Disney owned Lifetime's "Teen Trouble"
This is totally reprehensible.  The marketing of this 'chap' appears
to be based on total fraud. An "expert, Teen Behavior Specialist, lectured at M.I.T. U.C.L.A., Georgetown, Harvard"; lecturing implies imparting knowledge - something completely different than a 45 minute venue.  "Endorsed by Harvard."  Harvard alumni would only wish.

The sad truth is that gullible people actually believe this garbage.  This is totally irresponsible, unethical, and quite reflects the unregulated  Residential Teen Help Industry to which Mr. Shipp relinguished his soul - again, for the bang of the buck.

Speaker brings life lessons, humor

JUNEAU EMPIRE

Josh Shipp’s childhood was no fun.
“Foster homes, sexual abuse, teenage drinking,” Shipp said. “I was left in the hospital at birth.”
As an outgoing class clown Shipp said he was often just told to shut up.
“People gave up on me,” Shipp said. “That is what I refuse to do now, give up on a kid.”
Shipp is the first of three speakers scheduled for the Glacier Valley Rotary Club's 2012 Pillars of America Speaker Series.
Shipp grew up in Oklahoma and has lived in California for last 8 years.
“It’s funny that now I make a living running my mouth off,” Shipp said.
Shipp said that finding a mentor is one of the most important things a youth can do. He said he leaned this first hand from a teacher who helped him channel his talents.
“’You don’t need to shut up, you just need to use it differently,’” Shipp said the teacher told him. “First time I’d heard someone say that to me.”
Shipp said his teacher taught him that his “ability make my friends laugh and grab their attention was a gift and skill that I needed to use with responsibility and care.”

“Particularly with young people you have to earn the right to be heard,” Shipp said. “Just because I’m endorsed by Harvard doesn’t mean the youth care.”

When talking with youth, Shipp recommends just being oneself.
“Authenticity trumps being cool,” Shipp said. “If they don’t buy you, they will shut you out. If you are nerdy, use that. If you are funny, use that.”
And don’t just focus on your successes, Shipp said, also be open and admit mistakes.
“Parent’s greatest desire is to have their teen open up to them,” Shipp said. “You want your kid to be vulnerable and open up. Adults need to model that.”
Students look at the success story, not at the origin of the success story, Shipp said.
“Steve Jobs made mistakes just like me,” Shipp said. “Showing vulnerability increases our influence. Our imperfections make us human. It is our humanity that makes us influential.”
Mentors offer youth perspective and wisdom, having gone through certain situations before and knowing the outcome.
“It does not mean they are not smart,” Shipp said of youth. “But (they) have only been on the planet for 17 years.”
All teens live in an at risk environment, Shipp said. They will make mistakes.
“If you remove pain, if you remove mistakes, if you bail them out, you are robbing them of this opportunity,” Shipp said.
Shipp is host of the TV Show called Jump Shipp. He authored "The Teen's Guide to World Domination."

BREAKING NEWS - JOSH SHIPP REMOVES HARVARD ENDORSEMENT AND HARVARD LOGO FROM WEBSITE

HARVARD SPOKESMAN TODAY CONFIRMS HARVARD DOES NOT, NOR DID THEY EVER, ENDORSE JOSH SHIPP.

SINCE  "JILLIESTAKE" EXPOSED  THE FOLLY FRIDAY, THE ENDORSEMENT HAS BEEN REMOVED ON JOSH SHIPP'S WEBSITE, ALONG WITH HARVARD'S LOGO. WE IMAGINE MORE OF JOSH SHIPP'S WEBSITES TO FOLLOW, SINCE THEIR MEDIA WATCH-DOG SITE HAS BEEN READING WHAT IS WRITTEN BY ADVOCATES.  IT IS CALLED "DAMAGE CONTROL."

HARVARD WILL ADDRESS THE SITUATION. THE "ENDORSEMENT BY HARVARD" AND HARVARD'S LOGO WAS REMOVED BEFORE HARVARD COULD ADDRESS THE SITUATION.

WE ARE TOLD THE 2009 STATEMENT FROM A HARVARD ALUMNI IS BOGUS - PERHAPS A STUDENT.

WILL JOSH SHIPP NEXT OWN UP TO THE FACT THAT HE IS NOT AN EXPERT "TEEN BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST"?

THIS DOES NOT LOOK GOOD FOR DISNEY PRODUCTIONS AND ITS AFFILIATE LIFETIME. I MEAN, DISNEY? MICKEY MOUSE? CONDONING AN UNLICENSED "BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST" SENDING CHILDREN TO UNLICENSED, UNREGULATED RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES WHERE ABUSE AND DEATHS HAVE OCCURRED, IS NOT A BRILLIANT MOVE.  BUT, AS THE GOOD "DR." PHIL POINTED OUT, IT'S IN AN ENTERTAINMENT VENUE, SO IT IS NOT MALPRACTICE.

WHAT DOES THE NBACB (NATIONAL BEHAVIOR ANALYST CERTIFICATION BOARD) THINK?

ACCOUNTABILITY? CONFLICT OF INTERESTS?

JOSH SHIPP OF DISNEY OWNED LIFETIME'S "TEEN TROUBLE" PROCLAIMS BEING ... HARVARD ENDORSED - AMONG OTHER THINGS...

Josh Shipp, of Disney Productions owned Lifetime Television show called "Teen Trouble," is a self-proclaimed "Teen Behavior Specialist;" a motivational speaker guru for at-risk teens who claims to be "Harvard endorsed."

In addition, Josh Shipp markets he has "lectured" at Harvard, Stanford, M.I.T., Georgetown, and UCLA. "Lectured?" Really!

Josh Shipp, his production company, and his agency representatives market Josh Shipp as an "expert"; a "teen behavior expert."  Frankly, the definition of a behavior specialist or behavioral specialist that counsels teens and youth, appears far removed from the Josh Shipp's of the world.

Josh Shipp states that he "studied" psychology at the University of Central Oklahoma.
As yet determined, he offers up no license as a behavior specialist. There is no mention of a degree in psychology or sociology.  The only mention of a degree is from High School ... yada yada.

Josh Shipp is qualified as an expert alright - a marketing expert.  For $1,497.00  one can take an online, 7 part, DVD training course provided by Josh Shipp's "Youth Speaking University."  "The complete step by step formula to become a paid speaker in the youth industry."

Josh Shipp, Disney Productions, and Lifetime Television are playing a reckless, deadly game with the precious lives of our children and youths by sending them to facilities known to be abusive, negligent, or worse.  Many facilities are unlicensed and unregulated, where documented Federal and State evidence exists of abuse.  Even if the show is deemed smoke and mirrors, a fake reality show -  it sends a demented message.

Does Disney Productions, Lifetime Television, and Josh Shipp carry unprofessional insurance? Do the families sign a waiver absolving Disney Productions, Lifetime Television, and Josh Shipp of negligence?

    WHAT SAYS HARVARD?

Today, the Office of Provost's Trademark Program at Harvard University was contacted. Their Director stated, "as a matter of policy, Harvard University does not endorse any third-party goods or services."

We sincerely hope that this applies to Josh Shipp.  Harvard University  has long been a supporter of children's rights.  To allow this self-proclaimed "expert" and "Teen Behavior Specialist" to use Harvard like this, is egregious.
